Interview with Jonna Ekberg

Describe yourself with three words...
Ambitious, dedicated, stubborn.
When did your passion for animals begin?
At a very young age, I would say I got my big passion for horses from the first time I rode at age 3. But animals has always been a big passion for me so I would say all my life.
How can a regular day look like for you?
I start riding around 8-8.30 in the morning and keep going all day long till around 18.00-19.00, I usually ride around 8 horses. On shows days can look different with earlier mornings and late evenings.
What is you favorite sports-quote?
Work hard in silence and let the success be your noice.
What is the best part about competing?
The best part of competing with horses is that its not all about yourself being in top shape and performing, its about you and the horse together. A good rider without a good horse will never be successful and a good horse without a good rider will also never be successful. Its an amazing feeling to develop and achieve goals together with your horses.
What mental tool do you use under pressure?
I do a lot of visualising. If I get nervous I go through the plan in my head and see it for myself how everything is going to work out.
What do you like most about your sport?
Working with animals everyday. And what is also amazing with our sport is that it doesn’t matter what age or gender you are, we all compete against each other with the same conditions.
